The City of Stockton begins producing electricity with a new 3MW CAT generator. KMEA assisted the City of Stockton with the installation of the new generator located within the current power plant. The new generator is more automated than the existing generation. This generator is a Tier II engine and will be used for emergency operations for the city. The CAT generator will come online faster which allows for faster service to the customers when the utility is lost. “The new engine will provide for a quicker black start and improved reliability for the city” says Jeff Scott, Electric Production Superintendent. Ninety percent of the time, the new generator has the ability to provide all of the community’s electric needs.
