Baldwin City council members recently agreed to move forward with plans for a new substation, to be located at 1st street and Hwy 56.  Mike Schmaderer with KMEA Mid-States presented the project to the council members at their March 21st meeting, where it was met with unanimous approval. KMEA Mid-States will provide engineering and construction of the substation project along with assistance in procuring a 20 MVA transformer.

The new substation will replace the current aging equipment and improve internal circuit switching capability. The cost for this project is estimated at $4.25 million, which includes the substation, distribution work, and transmission work, as well as the 20 MVA transformer and all associated equipment. All of which is included in the total projected cost.

As the community of Baldwin City prepares for long term load growth, the new substation will help greatly to facilitate preparedness in all future developments.  Congratulations to the Baldwin City community on this exciting new project.  KMEA Mid-States is proud to be a partner with you on this project.
