As the City of Moundridge looked at options for electrical supply, because their contract was coming to an end, they decided their best option would be to build a new 115 kV line from the Westar (now Evergy) substation located SW to a new substation located in the southern portion of the City.

The new 115 kV line and substation project was estimated to cost $5.2 million.  Planning began in early 2019 and construction started the summer of 2020.

The new 115 kV line and substation project came online in May of 2021 and the City load was transferred early the morning of May 26th.  The final cost was more than $800,000 under budget.
