Coffeyville goes commercial with new 56 MW Reciprocating Wärtsilä Engine Generating Plant Jan. 1st, 2017!!

Construction, Commissioning & Testing of the new plant, which cost approximately $58 Million, was completed late October of this year with the support of Burns & McDonnell Engineers, supporting the project as Owner’s Engineer and Construction Management. CMLP staff is excited for the opportunity to continue our long standing tradition of providing reliable, safe, efficient & affordable energy to the citizens and customers of the City of Coffeyville. CMLP’s existing steam generating facility, capable of producing 56 MW, combined with our new reciprocating engine facility, also capable of producing an additional 56 MW of quick start capacity, ensures a great future for the City of Coffeyville and Coffeyville Municipal Light & Power!

The City of Coffeyville was able to achieve this through a partnership with the Grand River Dam Authority, headquartered in Vinita, OK. The City of Coffeyville is a full requirements municipal customer of GRDA, since 1999. Through this partnership, GRDA has purchased the rights to Coffeyville’s generating assets through a capacity purchase agreement, which allows GRDA to dispatch Coffeyville units into the SPP Day Ahead and Real Time markets.
