“Electric Utility 101” and “What is KMEA” are introductory presentations we created to help explain what KMEA is and how the agency benefits you as a member through services and programs.

Over the past several years, KMEA has welcomed a growing number of new cities joining our Energy Management Projects (EMPs). We’ve also seen many new faces at existing member cities. To help introduce these members to KMEA and the electric energy market, our staff developed these presentations. These sessions are designed to fit staff, elected officials, and even the public.

Recently, KMEA staff visited the cities of Gardner, Garden City, and Ashland for KMEA 101 sessions. Each session includes a presentation and discussion on topics of interest to their respective communities. Some of these topics include the services provided by KMEA, city power supply portfolio, SPP rules and regulations, and the current energy market/outlook, as well as growing trends in the utility industry.

It is always a great opportunity to connect with the members, and we truly enjoyed seeing everyone. If you or someone in your city would like to discuss a KMEA 101 in your community, please contact Tyson McGreer at mcgreer@kmea.com or by phone at 913-660-0235.
