Beloit seeks Power Plant Operator 1/Mechanic

Operator 1/Mechanic

The City of Beloit Power Plant, Beloit KS, is accepting applications for a Full Time Power Plant Operator I/Mechanic. This position works directly for the Power Plant Superintendent. Duties will include, but not limited to, providing necessary skills, knowledge and workmanship needed to do related work for proper equipment maintenance, city vehicle maintenance and the operation of the Power Plant electric generation. To make correct application and use of all materials and equipment furnished to provide efficient, reliable service to the consumer in the operation and maintenance of the Power Plant electric generation system. This position may have some shift work. This position is built to grow and train a capable, mechanically minded person.  Background in diesel mechanics is preferred.  Applicant must pass a drug screen upon conditional offer of employment. Valid Kansas Driver’s license and/or CDL are required. The hiring range is depending on training and knowledge related to the job. Benefits include vacation, paid holidays, sick leave, KPERS, Deferred Comp Retirement, health insurance and uniforms.

Operator 1

Duties will include, but not limited to the ability to learn the necessary skills, knowledge and workmanship needed to do related work for proper construction, maintenance, and operation of the Power Plant electric generation. To make correct application and use of all materials and equipment furnished to provide efficient, reliable service to the consumer in the operation and maintenance of the Power Plant electric generation. This position may have some shift work. This position has opportunity for growth and advancement. Applicant must pass a drug screen upon conditional offer of employment. Valid Kansas Driver’s license is required. The hiring range is dependent on training and knowledge related to the job. Benefits include PTO, paid holidays, KPERS, Deferred Comp Retirement, health insurance and uniforms.
