KMEA Mid-States additions

May 26, 2026/in General Information/by KMEA

KMEA is pleased to welcome three new additions to our Mid‑States team: Terry Hamel, Justin Bartholomew, and Briston Cross

Terry Hamel, Field Services Foreman

Terry is from Osborne and has worked in the power industry since 2007. He joins KMEA as Field Services Foreman. He decided to move from a corporate setting into a role focused on supporting communities across Kansas.

Before KMEA, Terry worked at Sunbelt Solomon for 19 years as an engineering supervisor. His work included designing and building controls, supporting customers with transformer specifications, and providing on-site support. Prior to that, he spent 17 years at Schwan’s Food Manufacturing as an electronics systems supervisor, where he managed a team and worked on large projects.

Outside of work, Terry enjoys reading, learning new skills, and spending time outdoors with his family.

Justin Bartholomew, Field Services Technician

Justin is from Salina. He joins KMEA as a Field Services Technician.

Justin became interested in the field at a young age after watching crews restore power during outages. That interest led him to pursue a role with KMEA.

At KMEA, Justin works in the shop helping turn raw steel into finished parts that are used in projects across member cities. He is looking forward to learning more about the energy field and supporting communities across Kansas.

Outside of work, Justin enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He also values time with family and helping others.

  Briston Cross, Field Services Technician

Briston is from Ava, Missouri, and joins KMEA as a Field Services Technician.

He comes from Sunbelt Solomon, where he spent 10 years working on the road, including five years as a foreman. He worked as a field decommission specialist and traveled to 30 states decommissioning transformers and substations.

Before that, Briston worked as a ranch hand, doing welding and hauling rodeo bulls for operations across the western United States.

At KMEA, Briston is looking forward to expanding his knowledge of substation and electrical work.

Outside of work, he enjoys the outdoors, shooting/gunsmithing, and traveling.

Please join us in welcoming Terry, Justin, and Briston to KMEA.
