KMEA/Mid-States formerly Mid-States Energy Works and its predecessor Mid-States Armature Works, Inc. (founded in 1952) have been in continuous operation for over 60 years serving the needs of Kansas Municipal Electric Utilities.
The functions of KMEA/Mid-States include a full service electrical apparatus fabrication shop, in-house design capabilities, as well as field crews for construction, trouble-shooting, testing, service, and maintenance.
KMEA/Mid-States custom designs and fabricates components to the customers’ needs and wants and it is registered and authorized to offer engineering services in the state of Kansas.
The assets of Mid-States Energy Works were acquired by Kansas Municipal Energy Agency on July 1, 2020. With no changes in staff or operations KMEA/Mid-States will continue to serve the needs of municipal electric utilities across the state of Kansas at the same level of service with an emphasis on the best possible rates.

Complete in-house capabilities, including controls for building/design, or construction of substations, regulator stations, etc.
