KMEA is pleased to make available to our members, an Equipment Loan Program, which provides members access to equipment resources that allows members to anticipate, prepare, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
KMEA has two infrared cameras. These cameras detect electrical hot spots, which can translate into big savings for cities by extending the life of equipment and preventing costly equipment damage. It also reduces the possibility of personal injury for customers and workers. Additionally, by helping to prevent power outages, the cameras enhance customer experience. KMEA also offers three power loggers, which records load patterns and can help identify distortions in the wave-form cycle. This analysis can help pinpoint the sources of electrical problems. In June of 2018, KMEA added a pole tester that will allow members to perform maintenance tests on their utility poles. The IML PD-500 tester will assist the users with understanding the integrity of their utility poles and help develop replacement budgets.
The infrared cameras, power loggers, and pole tester can be scheduled by contacting Tyson McGreer at (913)660-0235 or mcgreer@kmea.com
