Gerry Stephenson is Retiring!

Gerry Stephenson has been with KMEA for over 7 years and is retiring at the beginning of December. She began her employment with KMEA as Manager, Finance & Accounting on July 14, 2014 and her last day will be December 2, 2021. Gerry’s entire career was in the energy industry. For 23 years, before joining KMEA, she worked for Missouri Public Power and KCPL/Aquila.

Arma Substation Nears Completion

The City of Arma was faced with increasing costs when their substation was planned to be replaced with a load center. With KMEA’s assistance, the City was able to build a new substation and still have a lower monthly cost.

The City of Washington, Kansas, is accepting applications for Power Plant Operator. The applicant must possess a valid Kansas Class B CDL; HS Diploma/GED.  Knowledge in diesel engine operation, power generation and maintenance, along with a skilled level of working in the operation of fossil fueled engines, electric generators, and all associated equipment is required for this position.  Click Here for more information

Gilbert E. Hanson Jr. Outstanding Service Award 2020/2021 – Mike Muirhead

We are pleased to announce the recipient of the 2020/2021 Gilbert E. Hanson Jr. Outstanding Service Award, Mike Muirhead, Director of Public Utilities for the City of Garden City.  This award, named in honor of KMEA’s first General Manager, Gil Hanson, is presented by KMEA to a recipient who has, over a period of years, made significant contributions to municipal joint action and is recognized for contributions to his or her community, the electric utility industry, or public power.
