APPA announces Certificate of Excellence in Reliability to member cities

Three KMEA member cities were awarded a certificate of excellence through the APPA  eReliability Tracker program.  The City of Coffeyville, City of Garden City, and the City of Moundridge all received this certificate.

APPA announces EV Webinar

Under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, $5 billion has been allocated for the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula program for the next five years. Each state must submit an EV Infrastructure Deployment Plan by August 1, 2022, to receive funding.

KMGA Announces Regional Meetings

KMGA will be hosting 4 regional meetings for our member cities.  These meetings will provide an opportunity to meet with our members in a small group setting, as well as building relationships between our members.

City of Dighton hiring for maintenance department

The City of Dighton is currently accepting applications for our maintenance department. Some duties include but are not limited to:
Performing maintenance on city streets & alleys, installing & repairing water & sewer lines, installing & reading water meters, checking sewer lift stations, repairing & cleaning storm drains, operating department equipment, snow removal & other duties as assigned.

KMEA/MidStates Group completes line work in Cimmaron

The KMEA Dighton linecrew and the KMEA/MidStates Group, Steve, Henry and Dan, just completed a project for the city of Cimmaron. This project included replacement of three structures.

Memorial established in honor of Bruce Marihugh

With the passing of our friend and colleague, Bruce Marihugh a memorial fund has been established in his honor directed to the Kansas Municipal Utilities Hurt Lineman Fund.

Laurie Brock becomes new Director of Accounting and Finance

Laurie Brock has joined KMEA as the Director of Finance and Accounting.  She began her career directly out of college in the public utility industry with Missouri Public Service in Raytown, Missouri, gaining experience in the areas of accounting, finance, mergers/acquisitions and risk management as it grew from MoPub into UtiliCorp United and finally Aquila.

City of Ottawa is Hiring

The City of Ottawa, Kansas is accepting applications for a Water Reclamation Facility Operator I. Under the supervision of the Water Reclamation Facility Superintendent, the Water Reclamation Facility Operator I perform skilled and semi‑skilled labor in the maintenance and operation of Water Reclamation Facility and lift station.  A combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
